Development of new marine and land infrastructure
The Gove Port Tourism Precinct project, which includes a $2 million investment from DEAL, will be delivered in partnership with Gumatj Corporation, the NT and Australian Governments and will see new marine and land infrastructure developed next to the Gove Boat Club to support existing tourism operators, and attract new yacht and cruise tourism operators to the region.
DEAL is leading the coordination of the project working group, which is governed by a Project Facilitation Agreement that outlines how funding partners and key stakeholders will work together to achieve the project outcomes of a fit for purpose marine tourism facility at the Gove Boat Club. An agreement between DEAL and the NT Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics was entered in 2020 for the initial phase of works, which enabled funds to flow to the project to engage a project manager and undertake master planning and design work in early 2021. A further agreement is expected in 2021 for the construction phase of the project.
